Treasure Chest

Everyone should believe in something. I believe I should go to the beach!

A treasure has been found! I found my treasure chest for my Navarre Beach, Florida condo aka The Great Beach Escape!  I have been searching for a couple of years now.  And, to find it with my little sister, Becky, just makes my heart happy.

My treasure chest was found at the 8th Street Market in Comfort, Texas.  8th Street Market has nifty antiques with a coffee shop/café to boot (Becky and I tried their fabulous Turkey Sandwich).  Don't forget to walk out back to find even more treasures.  Items get moved around on a daily basis or sold, so don't expect your treasure to be there when you return.  Take it home with you today.

Becky and I wheeled my treasure chest on a cart downstairs to carry it on the beach for its photo op.  The maintenance guy followed us thinking that I was about to throw it away.  No way José!  So we took the photos and left it on the boardwalk to go on our two-hour stroll on the beach.

Trey, my husband, was upstairs and could see where we had left it.  Trey observed that as people were making their way to the beach via the walkover, that each one would touch it.  How fun!  I hoped that it brought them some good luck on that day!

My treasure chest will be used as a coffee table in the living room.

I have added a tray on top, but if you look inside you might find some booty:

Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Gold (this is mine - all mine!!!).  This is a piece of lead that looks like a gold brick.  I spray painted it gold to make it look authentic.

Currency; more currency (show me the money!)

The top of the treasure chest has cuts on it.  I'd like to think that there was a sword fight on a pirate ship long, long ago.  The straps on both sides are missing, but that's okay.  I still need to spray the inside with polyurethane as it has the musty old smell and I need to add the side chains on the inside of the lid so that it doesn't smash fingers.

I wonder how far this trunk traveled.  How many times was it stowed on a ship only to travel to England, Spain, France, China, Russia, Indonesia, or Australia?

Scrolls in a bottle - printed on high-quality paper, crinkled up, dipped in coffee, and then laid out flat to dry.

Saying on the scroll:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the winds in your sails.  Explore. . .  Dream. . .  Discover. . ."  --Mark Twain

Matey's, have a brilliant day! Here's to hoping you find a treasure today.

Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise something great will come of it.
